How the estimate is worked out
We start from the published 2026 installed price range for the system you choose, then take off each rebate or
discount that applies to your state, the system and what you are replacing.
Victoria: the Victorian Energy Upgrades discount comes off first. The Solar Victoria rebate then
pays 50% of the price↗ that is left, up to $1,000↗. Installers report a minimum
contribution of $200↗, so the estimate never drops below it.
New South Wales: the Energy Savings Scheme discount for a heat pump, which depends on whether you replace electric or gas.
South Australia: not included, because REPS offers are set by each energy retailer. How to find them
Queensland: not included, because the state appliance rebate has closed.
What the estimate leaves out
Moving from gas to electric can need new electrical work, and a tight or elevated site can add labour. The
locally made Solar Victoria rate of up to $1,400↗ is not modelled; if your product qualifies, your
cost will be lower than shown.
