There is no fixed amount↗ for hot water in South Australia. Under the Retailer Energy Productivity Scheme, energy retailers offer free or discounted upgrades, and each decides what it offers.
How REPS works
Retailers have yearly targets to help households save energy, and meet them by offering upgrades. That is why the amount is not published by the government and changes between retailers.
You can shop around
You can use any retailer↗, so you are not limited to the company that sends your power bill. You also do not have to accept any offer.
Comparing offers
- Ask more than one retailer or accredited provider what they offer on a heat pump.
- Get the offer in writing, showing the full price and the discount separately.
- Compare against a standard quote from a licensed plumber. Your installer's quoted price already includes the federal STC discount↗.
We do not publish a REPS dollar figure because the program does not set one. Figures you see elsewhere are one retailer's offer at one point in time.
